I’m just going to come out and say it: AI cannot be your editor in the ways that a human can.
While so many of the tools out there are very helpful and can give quality feedback, a machine or algorithm or line of code is always going to bring you into alignment with how it was programmed. It will nudge and autocorrect and suggest you into sounding like it.
I’ve watched it steal so many writer’s voices, from the students I have in class to adults.
But having a space where you know you will receive authentic, genuine, and heart-centered feedback that not only takes your writing to the next level, but keeps the integrity of your voice is priceless.
It is hard to find the words to accurately describe what it is like to be an editor for Wildly Free Publishing. It is such a life-giving experience and an incredible blessing.
The people we work with have stories that need to be shared. They have voices that others have tried to silence. They have experiences, knowledge, and messages that I know will change the lives of everyone who reads them for the better.
I get to be a part of these stories. I get to cheer them on and weave into the fabric of our whole publishing team as we amplify their voices together.
And I get to edit my way: leading with my heart and entering into workshop-esc conversations with authors as we discuss what they really want from their writing. We polish and shift and maneuver until it feels not only right, but feels like an open invitation from THEM to every reader who has the chance to devour their words.
I’ll tell you this. Having the chance to be an editor for Rooted to Rise, Expiration Date Unknown, and for our newest title Rising Relentlessly (Releasing in April 2026!), has been the opportunity of a lifetime.
So no, AI cannot be your editor in the same ways that a human can. And if you or someone you know has a story on their heart or has a message needing to be shared, please contact me. There is no pressure, no gimmicks, and no false fronts. We are a real, honest, and transparent hybrid publisher. And I can’t tell you how much joy it would bring me to have a chance at being your editor. ❤️
